A NOTE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Dear HFA Families,

We’re excited to welcome our eighth-grade students back from Catalina Island Science field trip! Experiences like this are made possible by people who generously give their time and energy to support our students. A heartfelt thank-you to our parent chaperones, Jason Mancino, Steve Throop, Beth Kassebaum, and Nicole Johnson, and to our staff chaperones, Sandy Nichols, Johnny Class, and Jody Miller. We’re grateful for the care and guidance you provided throughout the trip.

Thank you as well to the special guests who joined us for last week’s Patriot Day assemblies. We appreciated hearing from members of Escondido Fire Department’s Engine 132 crew and Escondido Police Department Chaplain Garrett Hatch, who is also an HFA parent. Their presence helped make these assemblies meaningful for our students.

This Wednesday, we’ll welcome visitors from the Escondido Union School District Superintendent’s Office. EUSD serves as our charter authorizer, and we look forward to showing our guests the wonderful learning taking place across HFA. Our students and staff give us so much to be proud of, and we’re excited for our visitors to experience that firsthand.

Finally, families should have received a save-the-date notice for Back-to-School Night on October 8. This is a parent-only event, and we look forward to seeing you there. More details will be shared soon.

MEAL SERVICE PROGRAM AT HERITAGE FLEX ACADEMY

Heritage Flex Academy offers free breakfast and free lunch for all students. There is no advance sign up. 

Breakfast Reminder
Breakfast is served from 8:00–8:15 am.
No breakfasts will be served after the warning bell.

Parent Communication & Student Participation
Please talk with your child each morning about whether they plan to participate in breakfast and/or lunch that day. This helps our team prepare accurate meal counts and ensures your child knows your expectations.

Allergies & Dietary Restrictions
If your child has any food allergies or dietary needs, please ensure we have a doctor-signed Medical Statement Form on file. Families may also submit a Fluid Milk Substitution Form (parent-signed) if they prefer lactose-free, soy, or oat milk.

CALLING ALL BLUE PATH PARENTS:

We are in need of some blue path parent volunteers (grades 1-5), especially for Science!  If you are interested, please contact the front office and we'll send you the paperwork!  Thanks in advance!

ATTENTION ALL K-5 PARENTS AND STUDENTS:

Come join us as we put our Classical Learning skills into action at Consortio Learning Together. Our kindergarten through fifth grade parents and students are invited to join us on Monday, September 14, from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. in the HFA courtyard. As parents and students, we will dive into the science curriculum to explore Archimedes’ Lever. Bring your Laboratory Apprentice Journal, pencil, crayons, and colored pencils. It’s going to be a fun morning, and we don't want you to miss this opportunity to practice our homeschool habits together and connect with each other!

ACADEMIC ADVISORS CONNECTION

This week marks the end of the first grading period. For grades 4-8, the grades posted in ParentVue are just a snapshot of your student's work up to this point. This is a great opportunity to reflect on your student's progress so far this school year. Remember that your academic advisors are here to support you and your student. We would love to meet with you to discuss how we can best support your family on your homeschool journey.

FLEX HOME LEARNING PROGRAM

We had a great time at the park last week learning about Rembrandt, and this week we hope you can join us as we learn about Jacob Lawrence and create an art project together that will be displayed at Back-to-School Night on October 8th!
