Week 4: September 1-5

A NOTE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Dear Heritage Flex Academy Families,

As we gear up for Week 4, I want to express my gratitude to all the parent volunteers who made our Welcome Back BBQ a resounding success. Your time, energy, and dedication in the midst of the recent heat wave were instrumental in bringing our school community together, and we are deeply appreciative of your support. The BBQ was a wonderful reminder of what makes our HFA community so special—our shared commitment to creating a positive and supportive environment for our students.

I would like to remind all families that Heritage Flex Academy will be closed on Monday, September 1 in observance of the Labor Day holiday. This is a time for relaxation and rejuvenation, and I encourage you to take this opportunity to spend quality time with your loved ones.

Our annual 8th Grade Catalina Island field trip is scheduled for Monday, September 1 through Wednesday, September 3. This optional three-day field trip promises a unique and educational experience for our 8th grade students, allowing them to explore, learn, and bond in a different setting. Rest assured that our dedicated chaperones will ensure the safety and well-being of all participants throughout the trip.

As always, staying connected with our school community is crucial. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to our teachers, staff, or myself. Your involvement and feedback play a vital role in creating a nurturing and enriching educational environment.

Thank you for your ongoing support, and I look forward to another successful week ahead!

Sincerely,

Sandi Knapp
Principal

New & Time Sensitive Information

ATTENTION ALL K-5 PARENTS AND STUDENTS! Come join us as we put our Classical Learning skills into action at Consortio Learning Together. Our kindergarten through fifth grade parents and students are invited to join us on Monday, September 15, at 8:30 a.m. in the HFA courtyard. As parents and students, we will work together using our key questions to guide students through narration to create beautiful history notebooks. Bring your history notebooks, pencil, crayons, and colored pencils. Siblings are welcome. It’s going to be a fun morning, and we don't want you to miss this opportunity to practice our homeschool habits together and connect with each other!

MAKING CONNECTIONS: One of the greatest gifts at HFA is connecting with other families in our homeschool community and sharing learning experiences. Stop by the Meet-and-Greet table in front of the magnolia tree during morning drop-off this coming Thursday, August 28 and Friday, August 29 to find out about some exciting field trip opportunities, chat with some co-op leaders, and make some new connections.

CONSORTIO PARENT MEETINGS: We are excited to invite you to Consortio: Partnering with Parents—a monthly gathering created to inspire, encourage, and support you on your parenting and educational journey. Each session will feature thought-provoking topics, guest speakers, and a welcoming space to connect with fellow parents in our school community. Join us for our first gathering on Wednesday, September 17, at 8:30 AM in the 1845/TK Building, as we dive into the topic: “How to Ask Questions That Lead to Beautiful Conversations.” Come for the insight, stay for the connection—let’s grow together. We look forward to seeing you there! If you have any questions, please contact Jill at jthomas@amhcs.org

JUNIOR HIGH FALL SPORTS: The fall sports season is here! Tryouts for Girls Volleyball, Boys Flag Football, and Co-Ed Cross Country will be held on Monday, September 8 from 2:30–4:00pm and Tuesday, September 9 from 3:30–5:00pm. Tryouts for Flag Football and Cross Country will take place at the HJHS Softball Field, and Volleyball tryouts will be held on the HJHS Blacktop. All HJHS and HFA 7th and 8th grade students are welcome to try out, provided they maintain a 2.0 GPA, have no Fs, and are in good standing with administration (no detentions or Saturday schools). Once teams are formed, practices will be held on Mondays, with games and competitions taking place mainly on Thursdays and Fridays. The season will run from September through the first week of November—come ready to compete, grow, and represent your school with pride!

LAST CHANCE!!!!!CALLING ALL WHITE TIGER CHEERLEADERS! Come out and cheer with our ECHS Cheer team under the Friday Night Lights! CALLING ALL 8TH GRADE GIRLS: Are you nervous about going to ECHS next year, or just want to feel connected?  The Sister Project is a club to help with your transition!  Each 8th Grade girl is paired with a high school girl at the first meeting who will be their sister for the year. There are fun activities once a month to meet upperclassmen and build friendships.  The 1st event will be on Friday, September 12 @ 3:35 p.m. at ECHS in the Student Union. To participate, you must have submitted the parent permission slip, which you can turn into the front office, as well as the Google Form online, which can be found on Google Classroom.
