    A NOTE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

    Greetings HFA Families,

Welcome back from Easter Break. We hope you had a restful and meaningful time with your family.

A heartfelt thank you to all of you for making our Spring Showcase such a special evening. It was truly phenomenal. Seeing our students on stage—confident, joyful, and proud of their learning—was a gift. We are so grateful for your partnership in getting your children there, prepared, and ready to participate. It made all the difference.

The feedback from families has been overwhelmingly positive, and we agree—it was something special. By popular demand, we are already considering making this an annual tradition.

As we head into the final stretch of the school year, we’re excited for all that’s ahead and grateful to be walking this journey with you.

    With appreciation,

    Sandi Knapp

    Principal

Catalina Field Trip - Parent Informational Meeting for Current 7th Grade Students

Heritage Junior High School and Heritage Flex Academy are excited to announce an informational meeting for the parents of our 7th grade students to discuss plans for the 8th grade trip to the Catalina Island Marine Institute for the 2026/2027 school year.

The Catalina Island field trip experience is designed to build camaraderie among the 8th grade students as they prepare to enter high school and it directly supports the middle school science curriculum. The field trip consists of a 3-day adventure from September 7 - 9, 2026. Students will be transported from the HJHS/HFA campus to Long Beach, where they will then board a ferry to be transported to Toyon Bay, one of the most beautiful and ecologically diverse locations on Catalina Island. Upon arrival, Catalina Island Marine Institute (CIMI) Toyon Bay will provide science curriculum instruction, marine science learning opportunities, snorkeling, kayaking, and a host of other activities. Students will be lodged in dorms and will be supervised by school faculty and parent chaperones.

The informational meeting will be held on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room at Heritage Elementary located at 1855 E. Valley Parkway. Jason Gaylord, Principal for Heritage Junior High School, will present details of the science camp field trip, provide families with an overview of what the trip entails, and answer any questions. Parents interested in chaperoning (spots are limited) may sign up at the parent meeting. We hope to see you there!

A Note from Mrs. Peterson, the music teacher ~

Hello families! Our 2nd Music in Action is coming up week 32 (April 14th /15th ) I've included some information about it below:
    Music in Action
    Who: Your students :)
What: A time for students to share with their class a musical talent (a song, playing an instrument, dance, poetry, chant, music video, cheer, etc.)
When: April 14th/15th during music class (1:30-2:00 min. max)
Why: promotes performing, encourages having courage to stand in front of people & also teaches students how to be a good audience member

If playing an instrument, your student will need to bring it to school (or they can record themselves and send me the video via email). I am planning to bring a keyboard for any pianists that want to share their talent :)

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to email me at rpeterson@amhcs.org

    WOODEN WINS VIRTUE

    APRIL

    Confidence

I am confident. I am sure of myself and my abilities. I am not arrogant or think I am superior to others. I do the right thing, despite what others might think of me.

    ACADEMIC ADVISORS CONNECTION

As we move into the final two months of the school year, we want to encourage you to keep your eye on the mission and vision of the program. As the weather warms up, it is tempting to cut the school day short and get outside. A better idea, take school outside for the day. As always, remember that we are here to support you in your homeschool journey. Do not hesitate to reach out to your Academic Advisor if you have any concerns or need some additional support.

Occasionally, we get requests for math ideas to support or extend learning. Here are some great ideas for Enriching Math.
