What a great start to the school year! I hope your students came home from their first few days feeling welcomed, encouraged, and excited about what’s ahead.
As we head into Week 2, we’re beginning to settle into our routines, build connections, and find our rhythm. Thank you for partnering with us along the way. This Week at HFA
Middle School Boot Camp: Middle school brings new opportunities, greater independence, and, let’s be honest, harder coursework! Our Middle School Boot Camp is designed to help both students and parents feel confident navigating these next-level homeschool years.
We’ll help students understand expectations, routines, organization, and how to take greater ownership of their learning. At the same time, parents will get practical guidance for supporting learning at home as coursework becomes more complex, while also helping their middle schooler grow in independence.
We’re off to a strong start, and I’m excited to see our students and families continue to grow, connect, and find their rhythm at HFA.

FRONT OFFICE HOURS: Monday-Friday, 7:30AM-3:30PM
MANDATORY CATALINA PLANNING MEETING (8th Grade STUDENTS AND CHAPERONES ATTENDING CATALINA ONLY)
We will be having a mandatory meeting for the Eighth Grade Field Trip on Thursday, August 27, 2026, from 6:00–7:30 p.m. at Heritage Elementary in the MPR. All families who paid, or requested assistance, have a spot for their eighth grader. If you are unsure, for whatever reason, please contact the front office. This is going to be a great experience, and we are very excited for your student to participate.

If your student takes daily medication or requires an inhaler or EpiPen while on the field trip, your child's physician must complete and sign the Medication Authorization Form also linked HERE. Medications for Catalina must be turned in no later than Friday, August 29.
CLASSROOM INTERRUPTIONS: HFA sets a high priority on making the most of instructional time. Therefore, the front desk will not interrupt class time to report delivery of forgotten items. Please make plans to drop off forgotten items in the front office and your student can pick them up during break and lunch.
RETURNING FAMILIES- PARENTVUE for 4th-8th Graders: The ParentVue and StudentVue app has been updated. Even if you have previously used the app, parents will need to download the new app from their phone app store (the previous app will no longer work). Once it has been downloaded, find and select your school district, select account has already been activated, and log in. New families will receive log in information at Start Up from their teachers.
MEAL SERVICE PROGRAM AT HFA
Heritage Flex Academy offers free breakfast and free lunch for all students. There is no advance sign up.
Breakfast Reminder Breakfast is served from 8:00–8:15 am. No breakfasts will be served after the warning bell.
Parent Communication & Student Participation Please talk with your child each morning about whether they plan to participate in breakfast and/or lunch that day. This helps our team prepare accurate meal counts and ensures your child knows your expectations.
Allergies & Dietary Restrictions If your child has any food allergies or dietary needs, please ensure we have a doctor-signed Medical Statement Form
on file. Families may also submit a Fluid Milk Substitution Form
(parent-signed) if they prefer lactose-free, soy, or oat milk.

WOODEN WINS MONTHLY VIRTUE
ACADEMIC ADVISORS CONNECTION
We are off and running. It is so great to see the kids in the classrooms and on the playground. They have grown quite a bit over the summer.
Now is the best time to reach out to your student’s classmates' parents and set up a learning co-op. Sharing the load as a home educator is invaluable, and learning together in a group setting builds many life-long skills that will benefit your kids for the rest of their lives. It was wonderful to see so many of you on campus over the past week as you picked up the last of your curriculum orders for the upcoming school year! We hope you've had a chance to look through the materials, get familiar with the curriculum, and set up a comfortable learning space at home in preparation for the weeks ahead.
Picture Day – Wednesday, August 26 at 9:15 AM Picture Day falls on the same day as our park Welcome Back-to-School Gathering, which makes it convenient for everyone! Please meet at HFA at 9:15 AM so we are ready for FHL’s 9:20 AM yearbook photo appointment. After pictures, we’ll head over to Kit Carson Park and meet again for our Welcome Back-to-School Gathering. Students may wear free dress for their pictures. Please remember to check in at the front office upon arrival.

Welcome Back-to-School Gathering – Wednesday, August 26 at 10:00 AM You're warmly invited to join us at Kit Carson Park on Wednesday, August 26th at 10:00 AM for a casual Back-to-School Gathering. This is a great opportunity to meet new families, reconnect with familiar faces, enjoy some relaxed time together, and get excited about the year ahead. I’ll share a few details about the FHL Program and then allow some time for families to share their thoughts, questions, and hopes for the new school year. Of course, there will also be plenty of time for fellowship and play! Please remember to bring water bottles - it may be warm! We’ll meet at the gazebo behind the playground, south end of park closest to North County Mall. Be on the lookout for a sign-up sheet to attend, which will be emailed to you on Monday, August 17.
